The most common way to become a pilot is to spend about $60k to be a flight instructor. This allows you to build hours without costing you more money. You need several hours of flight before you can make enough to start paying back loans. Helicopter training schools know you need the hours so they pay you very little, all while interest is building on you loans. After about 2500hrs, people can find work in the gulf of mexico transporting people to the offshore rigs.Pays about 45k to start

Flying helicopters is a really tough, but it beats any other job in the world. I recommend talking to a few people at Guidance, JJ is the main one, and possibly talk to some of the instructors. If possible you should also look into an intro flight, to see if you really like it or not.

Thanks, i really appreciate it. I have a meeting with someone named kurt on thursday to see what it is all about. i am really excited. I really have no aviation background, but i graduated high school with a 3.6. would you say this field is really difficult? Thanks again for answering my questions.

I am currently on my Instrument rating at Guidance Helicopters, I have nothing but GOOD things to say about this school. From what I hear about other schools this is one of the BEST schools in the helicopter industry.

Yupp… I flight train there. Just finished my Private Pilot add-on for helicopters. The instructors there top notch and care a lot about their students.
