You can be trained as a pilot in a number of ways. If you just want to fly for fun, you can find basic flight training in the Yellow Pages just about anywhere. If you want to consider an aviation career, your procedure is more complicated.
In either case, your starting point is actually the same: just go to the nearest airport FBO or flight school that offers flight training, and talk to the person behind the counter. Explain that you want to discuss your options with a flight instructor, and they will call the right person over to talk with you.
After you have your options laid out, you can make your decision.
If you want to serve your country as a pilot, contact your USAF or Navy recruiter, or contact your congressperson about a posting to the Air Force Academy.
Good luck!

Some Colleges have airway science programs that require flight labs. Or you can go to your local airport and get started there. I will suggest a 141 school over a 61 school. But if thats all you have around, it will do.
Oh, and remember to wear a shirt you don’t like for your first solo.
Just trust me..
