CLICK HERE – helicopterground.kajabi.com Lift, Centrifugal Force, Weight Hello everybody, Kenny with Fort Wayne Helicopters, and today I want to talk about the 3 elements of Rotor Blade Coning. Which are Weight, Centrifugal Force and Lift. I think about the helicopter when it’s just sitting in the stationary position as it is now. The blade is drooping down like it is now due to the weight. As the blades start to spin and we get up to operating range but before we pull the collective, the blade moves directly out due to centrifugal force. Then, as we apply collective and apply the lift the blade comes up due to the weight of the aircraft being suspended by the rotor system. Memorize those 3 because the examiners going to ask, Weight, Centrifugal Force and Lift. So thanks for stopping by day number 11and we’ll see you tomorrow!

I’m writing a novel in which the main characters need to take a Cessna 310 airplane and convert it to an alcohol (ethanol) fuel. I’ve researched it enough to know that it can and has been done in commercial settings, and from what I gather a plane that runs on aviation fuel (rather than diesel or jet fuel) would probably be the easiest type of plane to convert. I’ve read enough about the process to pick up the basics- but I have no real life knowledge of aviation mechanics or fuel conversion. My main questions would be:
1) what are the (generalized) steps you would need to take, in order..
2) what sort of new parts would you need to acquire
3) would any specialized tools be needed
4) what would need to be done to an ethanol fuel to make it run in an airplane?

I’m in high school right now and as you can guess, career options are coming at me by the hundreds. I’ve considered law, military, business, you name it. Although a lot of career options are quite attractive (monetarily speaking), they are not exactly suited for having a relatively interesting job.

I have considered so many careers over time, but one interest has stuck with me for as long as I can remember, aviation. I’ve always had a fascination with aircraft of any sort (mostly winged craft, not helicopters), I’ve bought all the simulators, gone to the airshows, talked to pilots, you name it. When I was young and to this day, I could name the parts of an airplane, tell you checklist procedures, etc. I just recently had the opportunity to actually fly a plane (with an instructors help), it was literally one of the best experiences I have ever had… I loved it!

I would do anything to have a career in operating aircraft (as a pilot), the ability to have a career in something I have a passion for would be beyond the highlight of my life. The only problem is, I was diagnosed colorblind in first grade… aviation is nearly out of the question, especially as a career. All I want to know (I’m assuming it’s impossible) is if I even have a chance at becoming a pilot, and if so, what I need to do.

(Probably military aviation, which would proceed to commercial)

Eastern Air Lines Flight 401 was a Lockheed L-1011 Tristar 1 jet that crashed into the Florida Everglades on the night of December 29, 1972, causing 101 fatalities (77 initial crash survivors, two died shortly afterward). The crash was a result of the flight crew’s failure to recognize a deactivation of the autopilot during their attempt to troubleshoot a malfunction of the landing gear position indicator system. It is believed that fatigue and poor crew resource management (CRM) contributed to the accident. As a result, the flight gradually lost altitude while the flight crew was preoccupied and eventually crashed. It was the first crash of a wide-body aircraft and, at the time, the deadliest in the United States. After the crash, Flight 401 was also known for reported paranormal activities, supposedly stemming from the salvage of aircraft parts; Eastern Airlines later removed the Flight 401 parts. The effects of this crash on the airline industry continue today and resulted in the development of Crew (or Cockpit) Resource Management (CRM), a technique that requires air crews to divide the work in the cockpit amongst available crew ensuring that someone continues focusing on flying the plane while troubleshooting continues. United Airlines Flight 232 is one of the most well known examples of effective CRM.
