For example: If I’ am a 31b or a 68W and want to go to flight school, should I re-class to 15T to become a better applicant or does it even matter that I dont have that much helicopter experience?

The Rotary Warrant officer program is the MOST sought after program in the US Army among enlisted members. My advice, don’t bother playing the odds on this one. Choose an MOS that you will enjoy. If you roll the dice, playing the odds to look good on an application, you are still competing against people who have college degrees, more years of experience and whatever other factor you and I haven’t considered yet. Further, DO BUY INTO the HIGH SCHOOL 2 FLIGHT SCHOOL PROGRAM. I believe 31B are MP’s and the army is pulling MPs from the national guard, so you may not be released to become a pilot and the same is largely true for 68W; you are much more valuable in that capacity than going to flight school. On the other hand if you want to be a medic, medics are assigned to helicopters so you could form a tight relationship with several pilots which would be helpful in the application process.

Just don’t try to plan out your future that far in advance. You still have to enlist, finish basic and ait, get experience, then apply and compete against people who have whatever they have when you apply.
