Embry Riddle would be the best followed by Com-Air. You need to get a Private, Instrument Rating, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), CFI Instrument, Commercial, Multi-Engine, and a Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP). I'm not sure how much Embry Riddle is but a fellow pilot of mine went to Flight Safety Academy and it ran him about $130,000. I don't believe Embry Riddle would be that expensive. I got my licences by myself and fellow neighboors/pilots. It cost me close to $52,000 to get all my training. If you are looking to go into a major airline such as United, then yes I would go and get a college degree. I did Aerospace Engineering and that impressed all the Airlines. If you going to fly jumper jets then I wouldn't worry about getting a degree. If you cannot afford it the army is offering a Warrant Officer Class, which teaches you to fly helicopters and then fixed-wing aircraft, The airlines love military pilots and high time pilots. If you can try to fly as much as you can. In the CEO's mind for an airline the more time, the more experienced. Hope you succeed at your dream.

Look at the University of North Dakota, they have a program that is very comparable to Embry Riddles, many would argue that it is better… also, it is closer to home…

I would definitely shy away from any schools called
Osama's Flight Academy or Holy Jihad Flight School,
but all joking aside whichever you decide to attend get ready for the most extensive background check ever because of 9-11. I read that a couple of the 911 hijackers trained in Florida.
