I am looking for a person that can teach me to fly privately rather than spending way more money on a flight school.
Jackson MI, is where I live and I would be willing to drive 50 miles or so.
If you mean Jackson Mississippi, call either of these Flight Instructors:
Jerry Eichelberger (601) 668-6614 SEL MEL IAIR AGI
Ronald W Warren (601) 826-5058 SEL IAIR
If you meant Jackson Michigan, call David A Frazier 517/789-0290 SEL MEL IAIR BGI AGI GS DPE
they can give you the more correct info than you will gain here.

Try a military base that offers flight lessens, and has an airfield on it.

Usually this only works for perky young women…but, part 61 training is ok but I think you really get your money’s worth with a 141 school. Whatever your choice, make sure you determine when you are safe, competant, and proficient to fly.

By doing what your doing now. Use the Internet to network and post your interest to learn. Offer something you can provide for a barter. Sometimes the best memories and relationships come from strangers who wanted to be part of something for someone else. Wouldn’t it be cool to find a super mentor of flight in an old war pilot who has the coolest plane out in the barn to teach you on? Use your imagination.

why don’t you hang out at the airport maybe someone will let you work for flight lessons. i have seen people do od jobs at the airport and trade their work for flight lessons. also if you get someone that has a plane they may teach you if they are qualified. good luck and if you get to fly do not burts your but doing foolish things. that is a very serious thing at all times.

You want to learn to fly a plane and you want to do it cheaply?? Uh, that may not be the best idea. If I were you , I would save up until I could afford a reputable flight school. It’s expensive because they are the experts, their planes are expensive to maintain and fuel and they will work with you until they are 100% sure that you are ready for each next step. Someone who has never taught may not be as careful and just won’t teach you the same way (plus they still have the fuel and upkeep costs, so I doubt it would be cheaper..unless you are hitching a ride on a crop duster maybe?).
Best of luck though okay. I’ll be hoping that you can make a liar out of me and you do find something.

Here are some places you can look:
FAA: Become a Pilot
http://www.faa.gov/pilots/become/
AOPA: Project Pilot
http://www.aopa.org/learntofly/
Look in the blue pages of your phone book for the Federal Aviation Administration. Locate the "Flight Standards District Office" nearest your home. Call them and see if they can put you in touch with freelance flight instructors in your area.
Unless you have your own plane to train with, you’ll have trouble finding someone outside of a flight school. Without your own plane, you’ll have to rent, and most places that rent planes won’t allow outside instructors to teach in their planes.

Trying to get something like that is gonna b tough. No one wants to risk their aircraft, or spend their time for nothing. However, I do kno of people buying a small relatively inexpensive aircraft,( I’ve seen some kit planes around 15k),already assembled and found someone willing to train them, just to aquire some PIC time. That or the military. Why do U wanna learn? If U don’t mind my asking?
