Two red tail hawk offspring practice flapping their wings before learning to fly. Not quite fledglings, they are ready for flying lessons as mom and dad watch from a nearby tree. They will be flying around the neighborhood any day now. They are about six weeks old.
Looking skyward, with stomachs churning, C2M Executive Editor Kevin Loker and then-Podcast Director Matt Loffman traveled to Warrenton-Fauquier Airport to go flying with George Mason University’s future Flying Club. The club, which was officially instated as a university student group this spring, has since as gathered close to 200 Facebook fans and 50 official members, 29 of whom gathered on Saturday for the clubs first-ever Flight Day. Alex stumbles upon Jerry’s old magic carpet and convinces him to give her flying lessons. Having treated Alex as his little girl all her life, he doesn’t want her to grow up and gets impatient while teaching her how to fly. When Alex flies in to a building, Jerry gets very mad and says she is not yet ready for lessons. Alex asks Justin to help her, and Justin decides to help her and gives her lessons. Jerry gives Alex another shot at lessons and while they are riding Jerry notices that Alex has improved.
