awhile back i heard an ad that they were goin to teach you free helicopter lessons n give you a job guarantee right after you finish the course here in miami, did any one else heard that ad? if so wat company was it? so i can look them up.

I really doubt that any one any where is going to give you “free” lessons followed by a guaranteed job… But awhile back “Silver State helicopters” was selling people on the idea of in house financing of lessons with no money down and job placement after graduation. Unfortunately they’re Business model was essentially a ponzi scheme and they went bankrupt about 6 months ago. They were a nation wide company so it’s quite possible they were operating in the Miami area.

It was probably Silver State Helicopters. They had branches all over the country and would bombard any new area with radio and television ads before starting a school there. There is no such thing as free training. It doesn’t exist. Only the military will pay for your training, but they will require a service commitment in exchange, and military training is very difficult and competitive.

Get real man! You mis-heard the advert. First of all, a flight school cannot guarantee you a job. In the USA that is illegal advertising. Second, no school is going to give you over $40,000 worth of training for “free” under the assumption that you will stay around to pay it back just because you’re a good guy and say you will. If that was the case, the waiting list of students would be so long that you’d wait 10 years to start your training. What the ad probably said was a “free introductory flight lesson” and that they hire many (not all) of their graduates.
