I want to fly helicopters for the air force and I plan on going through the ROTC program. Do I have to pay for the flight training in college? I heard you have to pay for your pilots license and plight hours. Is this true?

Slow down!!! The Air Force does not have helicopters. You don’t have to pay. The U.S. Army has helicopters, you still don’t have to pay, you can become a pilot straight out of high school. You don’t have to pay for a license. All you have to do is go to the recruiter in your town, tell him you want to be a helicopter pilot, and to send you to Fort Rucker, Alabama (Motherrucker). See EASY!! Good Luck.

you might want to check the Army – helicopters are mostly army weapons. [Air Cavalry]
from website:
field 15
There are 20 Army enlisted MOS’s included in the Aviation Field. Aviation units work with the following Army helicopters; OH-58 Kiowa, UH-60 Black Hawk, CH-47 Chinook, and AH-64 Apache.

You Never have to pay for training required by the military. And YES the Air Force has helicopters. You might have a better chance at becoming one in the Army but the Air Force (in my opinion) is a much better decision. I am on my way to becoming a helicopter pilot. Going to be a mechanic first. But they do have them and the training is free.

Wait, you think the military wants civilians training military pilots? In civilian helicopters?
Also, if you want helos, look into NROTC, more helicopter opportunities there than the Air Force

Eyespy is wrong about one thing. The air force has helicopters. Afterall, what do you think the PJs rappel from to do their rescues? Ever heard of a rescue squadron? Anyway, you need to have a degree and be commissioned to be an air force helicopter pilot so going through ROTC is a good idea. However, that is not the case with the army…4-year degree is not needed for the army.
ALL helicopter training for the military (air force, navy, marine, army, coast guard) is done at Ft. Rucker, AL. The army has the most helicopters so your chances of actually getting to fly one would be better in the army.
