Recently a nest fell down and so with 2 little birdies inside. I wasn’t tall enough to put it back to its original place. So now i am feeding them with bread. But they are growing bigger and I think they should learn to fly now. Should I just let them be or should I train them to fly? Well, because if i’m not mistaken, they always show how the mother bird teaching the birdies to fly in animal planet.

show them videos of birds flying, they’ll pick it up soon enough… or, you could show them personally a bird trying to fly.

It would be great if these chicks can be around an older or adult bird, if possible. They learn extremely quickly by observation [no need 2 be the same species] & mimic natural behaviors in a timely fashion. But its not necessary for them to be taught by the mother to learn to fly. When they are ready they will assuredly try by themselves, so don’t try any method to teach them yourself. I have raised countless chicks of many species, from ground-nesters to perching to chickens in between. They all learned to fly in their own time.
What is of extreme importance is the diet. It is crucial to identify the species and find the natural diet, then try your best to duplicate or come close enough to it to feed them properly. I 4 one think you’re awesome for taking them ‘under your wing.’ As you know, baby birds are very time consuming!! Kudos to you.

You are going to kill these birds!! Bread is the worst thing you can feed them..you are doing these birds more harm than good!! Get the birds and put them back in the fallen nest and replace it as close as possible to the original location..even if you cannot get it in the exact location it does not matter, as long as the parents can hear their begging calls they will find them. You can even put them in a basket with handle and “make” a nest and hang that up in the tree or scrub the nest was in if you no longer have the nest. If it has been a long time since you have had these birds..the parents may have now left the area, so you would need to get them to a local wildlife rehab where they will get them the PROPER diet and will be able to teach them to forage and fly. First and best choice would be to let their parents raise them if at all possible..second choice is a rehab. Also, it is highly illegal for you to have taken these birds too…all wild birds are protected by law, you can be fined or jailed for keeping them in your possession. Look for a rehab near you here:
