Army Careers 15J – OH-58D / ARH Armament / Electrical / Avionics Systems Repairer

Hundreds of Army missions depend on aircraft for transport, patrol and flight training. Instruments, lights, weapons, ignition systems, landing gear and many other aircraft parts are powered by electricity; it’s up to the members of the aircraft electrician team to ensure that the electrical systems on airplanes and helicopters are properly maintained and repaired. The Aircraft Armament/Missile Systems Repairer is primarily responsible for performing maintenance on the electrical, electronic, mechanical and pneudraulics systems associated with aircraft armament, missile and fire control systems. Some of your duties as an Aircraft Armament/Missile Systems Repairer may include: -Maintain aircraft armament/missile systems according to technical manuals and safety procedures -Perform maintenance on aircraft weapon components, fire control units and sighting elements -Perform operational checks, ammunition loading/unloading and weapon subsystems configuration changes for fire control systems -Test, troubleshoot and repair test sets and diagnostic equipment -Replace faulty wiring -Solder electrical connections -Repair or replace instruments, such as tachometers, temperature gauges and altimeters -Read electrical wiring diagrams

What are the chances of me getting accepted to warrant officer flight training with the army?

I am 25 years old, 70 inches tall, and in good shape. I have an AAS degree in aircraft maintenance with an FAA airframe and powerplant license. I have never been in the military. But I am interested in the warrant officer flight training program. Would I have a better chance if I went with the National Guard rather than the Army or vice versa?

Are there any aviation related schools I could go to as an 11B Army Infantryman?

I’m looking into getting a job in the AOV or FAA and I need avionics in my resume and I was wondering if as a grunt soldier are there any aviation related school I could go to to add onto my MOS that doesn’t change my MOS? Preferably something that involved communicating to aircraft.
