If you’ve read any of my other questions, you know I’m going to be a whirly pilot. I am going for my commercial license. I’d like to learn to fly planes eventually. I know it works that you knock a few hours off by going through plane lessons first, but does it work in reverse?

I Failed My First Private Pilot Helicopter Check Ride!

FWHIhelicopters.com So the next thing I want to talk about, something else that I think is huge, and this is from experience. You need a acceptable aircraft, you need to have certain documents with you. You need AROW your Helicopter Airworthiness Certificate, the Helicopter Registration Certificate, the Pilots Operating Handbook (POH) also called the Flight Manual, and the Weight and Balance information. Every single Check Ride the examiner is going to ask you these things about your Aircraft.You need to make sure they are current, and filled out. The story I want to tell here is I failed My First Private Pilot Check Ride! The one Big Mistake we made, every time we talked about Aircraft Logbooks, they were always locked up in the Mechanics Office! So we went through all the Helicopter Training and The PTS, The Practical Test Standards, but failed to ever get our hands on the logbooks, that’s where we messed up. I was a nervous wreck anyway, one of the first things the FAA Examiner wanted to do was look at Schweitzer Aircraft Logbooks. So we get them, then he says show me the last 100 hour inspection! It was not a New Helicopter, so there were lots of entries. As I am going through page by page, the examiner is huffing and puffing, tapping on the desk, writing things down, as of course I become more and more nervous. Well you can guess how this Check Ride ended!

A guy in my speech class gave a speech on Marine helicopter pilots he didnt give much info and showed a few pics he then said he used to be a Sergeant in the Marines and flew helicopters over Baghdad. I asked him what type of helicopter he flew he said he couldn’t remember it had been a few years. I asked him where he trained he said he did private lessons before he joined the Marine Corps. All the women in the class were impressed but I am a little skeptical. Any chances hes telling the truth?

If you live in a rural area, be prepared to drive for a couple of hours to the nearest school. Establish a good rapport with people, especially instructors there. Instill in them the confidence that they can communicate with you, especially while flying the plane (to you paranoid hearing guys, come on, gimme a break, it only takes a couple of seconds to glance at the sheet, beside the control is swapped whenever the attention is diverted). For those who think it’s not our obligation to pay “a bit more” for their time “to communicate with us”, fyi, flight school charge by hour, especially when the engine is running so it’s only fair to pay whatever time you are using their service. I’m 17 and I want to be a helicopter pilot. I’m not planning on doing training or anything like that until after I graduate high school (2010). But does anyone have a suggestion for where I should get training for it? I don’t want to go into the Military though. Also, I’m short (5′ 2″) does that make any difference?

Do i have to go to college to become somones personal helicopter pilot? Or just helicopter training course.?

Hi, my name is Josh Kallenberg and I’m here at the Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles, California. I’ve been flying professionally for about 13 years, and now I have the pleasure of flying this Gulfstream G450 which is a lot of fun and exciting. And today I’m going to talk to you about becoming a pilot. So once you’ve received your commercial certification, you’re going to need to start building time. And I would suggest trying to build quality time. And this is if you’re trying to do this as a career and try to fly for the airlines or fly corporate. One thing I would suggest doing is getting your flight instructor certification. You’re going to build time with the student, and that’s when you’re really going to start to learn the material – is when you’re teaching it. And you can usually build up your flight time fairly quickly. And I think when you want to apply for a job it’s a valuable thing to have on your resume. In addition to being a flight instructor, or in lieu of, you can try to find other odd jobs such as towing banners, flying medical supplies, flying cargo. So those are some of the examples of things you can do and actually get paid for doing. And in addition, you’ll be accumulating your flight time. Some very important flight time when employers are looking at you down the road will be that as a copilot in anything with more than 1 engine. And also, your experience of flying in the clouds which they call you’re instrument experience, that’s also very important …
