hi all. in less than 2 months from now, im leaving for the navy, and im somewhat excited and nervous…but what i wanted to know is that since i signed up for 4 years in the service, how and when do i sign up to become a naval flight officer? could i be taking the required classes WHILE in my 4 years of service? and will this enable me to become a commercial pilot in the future? and if the navy does pay for college, where are some schools that has an NROTC program and an aviation school in it too. thanks
I started taking helicopter lessons a couple of months ago. So far I have just under 6 hours. The last two lessons I have gotten pretty discouraged because I still can’t hover that great and hover taxiing is even more difficult. I can hold a stationary hover fine most of the time, but maybe 20% of the times I get thrown off and start wobbling around and it things get out of control and the instructor has to recover for me. Shouldn’t I be able to hover by now? Hover taxiing is even worse for me. I feel like I’m barely in control of the helicopter most of the time, then I’ll get moving forward a little too fast and will try to slow down then end up over correcting and then completely lose it and the instructor has to recover. I guess a big part of it is I’m nervous hovering around hangars and trees and other aircraft on the ground, and it psychs me out.
I’m just wondering at this point if I just don’t have what it takes to learn to become a good helicopter pilot. It’s really expensive and I don’t want to waste a bunch of money if it turns out that I’ll never be good at it. What do you think?
I am a beginners when it comes to this. In order to fly a chopper and take friends and family, what kind of license do I need to have first of? What places offer helicopter training in Chicago area? I have found alot of flight schools but I have not found a school thats offering helicopter training.
Can anyone suggest what I can do? I called up these small aviation companies and they have been of no help. Thanks for your help in advance.
