The guy who crashed the B-52 at Fairchild? Yes, unfortunately, your summary is about right. Tragically, in addition to killing himself, he killed other 3 other Air Force officers as well. If you watch closely, on his final go-around, you can see he nearly crashes on turn to downwind leg, but recovers. A few seconds later, on turn to final, he pulls the same stunt again, this time stalling and crashing. I’m beginning to wonder if maybe he committed suicide.

Just as failing to check sufficient fuel (blame it on fuel guy?), failing to check for severe thunderstorms enroute (blame it on God?), failing to check proper weight balance (blame it on Sir Isaac?) etc are all actually pilot error.

it was not pilot error. just as a steering wheel locks when you turn it when the car isnt turned on, he pulled up and the controls locked because someone forgot to disable the ground lock.

It was an experimental Turboprop Caribou. I believe htre pilot’s name was Perry. This belonged to NewCal/Pen turbo Aviation. The external aileron lock was in place. They are put in when you are parked in windy conditions to prevent the controls from slapping about in the wind.
