Here you can see some few aircrafts, showing the evolution of aviation, beggining with the first airplane (14 BIS OF SANTOS DUMONT), and going through the decades until nowadays. The image goes from B&W, to a Sepia tone, and finally, color. I hate myself for forgetting Concorde…but, that´s ok. On the background, Top Gun Anthem, by Van Halen. Clip dedicated to my father, Myron J. Coelho!

The 14-bis was the winner of a prize given by an european entity, taking off by it’s own means, in front of a crowd. The Flyer was so superseekreetz that it was only announced after the 14-bis had flew. Like “hey, we flew 2 years ago” “can you prove?” “yeah, we have this photo, and this is not a catapult, mmkay?” “any witness?” “oh, yeah, this guy that works for us”. USA’s propaganda machine sent the 14-bis into oblivion for most of the world. There are replicas of the 14bis flying, google it

I believe he was using decades, not exact years. Seems you have already googled 14-bis, for that I won’t make a speach about it

it’s not the flyer, it’s Santos Dumont 14-bis, considered to be the first airplane before the USA propaganda machine sent it to oblivion in most of the world. For it took of by it’s own means (didn’t need a catapult), in front of a crowd in Paris (not in secret behind a barn in kitty hawk), and got an international prize as being the first “heavier than air”. Google it
Btw, there are replicas of if flying (with the same engine power).

Oh yeah, also the 14 BIS first flew in 1906, not 1900 as your clip says.

Wright Brothers made an aircraft catapult powered, a few saw that event, they sent an e-mail and the USA make it the official version for the aviation history.
Alberto Santos Dumont flew before the eyes of a crowd in Paris, somebody filmed him and you can see the images any time in youtube.

I should agree with dLimboStick.
What happen to the Wright Flyer with the Wright Brothers? They were the first.

Pretty huge oversight to omit the Wright Flyer at the beginning of the clip. That’s like making a clip about the history of man on the moon and omitting Neil Armstrong.

I would have liked to have seen Concorde, and the large Russian shuttle cargo plane. The music is cliché perhaps something from each time period?
Good footage though.

You forgot about CONCORDE one of the most amazing plains ever built !!! The supersonic passenger airliner, supersonic transport , and if i might say one of the most beautiful plains built in the late 60′s.

no offense, the footage was good, but I agree about the music. I dont know exactly how it became associated with aviation, but it seems inescapable. half the time you see anything about aeronautics, it is run to this track. It has become so ubiquitous that it is pretty annoying

Hey man, nice vid, though I’m a bit tired of that music
Where’d you get all the footage?

Civil planes rocks!
Whats that delta-wing aircraft in the ’50′s. Boeing should relaunch the 727 project, that plane is so awsome.
