I’m interested in hosting a fly in at a local airport to raise awareness for General Aviation, maybe some money for my local CAP unit, interest prospective pilots in the area (to help out my instructor) and have a good time in general for everyone.
I’ve heard of things like spot landing competitions and the like, are there any other fun things like this?
The airport would probably be a class G grass strip, since i probably wouldn’t be able to get permission from the bigger class E (soon to be D) airport.
Thanks!

Spot landing contests are fun and so is flour bag bombing.
Also poker runs, BBQ’s, safety seminars, maintenance seminars, static displays of new/ legacy aircraft.

Pancake breakfast to raise money, team up with the local EAA chapter and have a Young Eagle rally and fly kids for free (around the pattern) provided by EAA volunteer pilots .

Enjoy homebuilts and the EAA stuff. Can’t go wring with acro birds. Antique and restorations are always a draw. War birds seem to have an audience too

Spot landing contests are good, as are bomb dropping (flour bags) and short landings. Food is always a big draw, as is on field camping if it’s a two day event. A Young Eagles event is always good. A wide variety of aircraft is always good: GA, homebuilts, warbirds, antique, ultralights, paragliders.
A small grass strip is always more fun for a fly-in than a large airport.
